The Datamosh PORTRAITS
2018-2024
Datamoshing is a digital video editing technique used by artists to give videos a pixelated, corrupted look. While datamoshing is a deliberate type of glitch art, it can also happen accidentally due to poor video compression on video websites like Youtube. I’m fascinated in how even in a mess of pixels, we can still recognize a human face. These portraits, featuring various YouTubers, influencers, and musicians, are my attempt to capture their digital likenesses onto an analogue medium like pen ink and paper.
